Leader of Nova União since 1997, André Pederneiras announced that he is leaving his post as head coach of the team, which has athletes like José Aldo, Renan Barao, Dudu Dantas e Thales leites. Dedé's objective is to coordinate Arena Upper, a training center created by him, to lead the preparation of any fighter who is interested in helping him, not just athletes from Nova União.

“I continue here in training, giving the same advice to my athletes, but if, for example, the Urijah faber comes here, I will give him the same training, regardless of whether he represents Nova União or not. If the people who are training at that time feel uncomfortable, I'll take them and arrange another time with them, a separate training session. Here I intend to serve all types of athletes, ensuring that they have all the training support. A jiu-jitsu athlete, for example, who is from another team and wants to do technical training here”, said Dedé, on the Combate channel website.

Dedé also revealed that he must move away from being present in the athletes' corner during fights and that the team's leadership will be the responsibility of his oldest students, such as: Leo Santos, Thales leites, Hacran Dias.

I ended up putting together one of the biggest teams out there. My daily life becomes increasingly busy with the social mission, so it will be difficult to see myself in the athletes' corner.
