Welterweight Paul Daley has just signed a new contract with Bellator. Furthermore, he already has a new opponent to step into the organization's cage, Joe Schilling. The English fighter has been at the event since 2015.
Daley posted on his social media this Friday (29): “So former Glory kickboxing champion, Joe Schilling, asked me to fight in Bellator MMA, he will fight at 170lbs up to 205, he now did kickboxing in full time, signing a new multiplayer contract with Bellator MMA…. Well I just signed a new contract I'm ready @bellatormma. WW Tournament, Joe Schilling, I’m ready.”
Schilling previously stated that he was interested in moving down to the welterweight division to face Daley. 'Semtex' is not one to back down from challenges and showed interest in the fight as well.
In recent months, Daley has had a difficult time at Bellator. It got to the point where he needed a release from the promotion because he was unhappy with his treatment. After meeting with Bellator president Scott Coker, it appears things have improved.
With the announcement of the welterweight GP for September it appears that Daley is one of the likely participants.
