On May 24, the Brazilian fighter refused to take a surprise test at his gym in Las Vegas (USA). The exam was requested by NSAC as preparation for the fight that Wanderlei would do with Chael Sonnen in July, also in Las Vegas.

Wanderlei was present at a hearing held this Tuesday (17), but said little. The Brazilian's version of the case was given by his lawyer. According to him, Wanderlei was taking anti-inflammatories and diuretics in order to reduce fluid retention in his wrist, which he fractured in the fight with Sonnen during the recording of TUF Brasil 3, in February. Fearing that he would be caught during the exam, as diuretics are prohibited by the commissions, the Brazilian refused to provide samples to the NSAC inspector. However, according to the lawyer, Wanderlei recognizes that he should have undergone the exam.
