The matter was discussed briefly at the meeting. It was decided that a definitive suspension will be defined at a future hearing, with a date yet to be announced. Until then, the North American is prohibited from competing under the NSAC seal.
A surprise anti-doping test carried out on Sonnen at the end of May found the presence of anastrozole and clomiphene, substances banned by WADA, the world anti-doping agency. Given all the controversy surrounding the episode, the North American announced his retirement from MMA.
