French court dismisses sexual assault case against Conor McGregor

Due to 'lack of evidence', authorities decide to exempt the fighter from any guilt in the alleged case that occurred in 2020

Former double Ultimate champion, Conor McGregor has reasons to smile. Accused of sexual assault and indecent exposure during his short stay on the island of Corsica, in France, in 2020, the athlete had the case closed by the local court, due to lack of evidence. The information was released by 'TMZ'.

Also according to TMZ, the authorities chose not to pursue the process. In a text received by the company, those responsible explained the situation.

“The examination of the present case does not justify any criminal prosecution, since: the facts or circumstances of the facts of the case could not have been clearly established by the investigations. The evidence is, therefore, not sufficient to establish the crime and to initiate criminal proceedings”, they wrote, in a publication transcribed by 'Combate'.

The case involving the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion reportedly happened about eight months ago. On that occasion, McGregor went to France to participate in a charity race. The incident, however, would end up suspending the Irishman's participation in the activity.

To add to the defense of the 'Notório', the fighter's representatives stated that, with the intention of proving the fighter's innocence, DNA samples were collected and given to the authorities. After the alleged incident, the MMA legend left the island on a private yacht.

Free from yet another lawsuit, Conor is preparing for his second commitment inside the octagon in 2021. Defeated by Dustin poirier No. UFC 257, the Irishman will promote the trilogy with the North American, which takes place on July 10th.
