With a 15-month suspension, Jones will be able to fight again in 2018

Jon Jones was caught in the anti-doping test after the victory against Daniel Cormier, in July 2017. Since then, the fighter had not fought and was awaiting a decision from the United States Anti-Doping Agency. This Wednesday (19), 'Bones' received a 15-month suspension from USADA. As the hook is retroactive, the former light heavyweight champion will be ready to return on October 28th.

Shortly after the announcement of the punishment by USADA, Jon Jones posted a thank you to his fans on his Instagram. He recognized the importance of the people who remained by his side during the time he was outside the Octagon.

“It's hard to express myself right now, but I can definitely say that my heart is full of gratitude and appreciation. I want to thank all of you who stuck with me during the most difficult time of my life. It meant a lot to me. But now is the time to shift the focus front and center. The path to reclaiming my throne is officially open,” wrote 'Bones'.

Before winning the light heavyweight belt in 2011, Jones was involved in a traffic accident, where he and some teammates escaped unharmed, but the woman driving the other car was taken to the hospital on a stretcher. In this case, the police cleared the fighter.

In 2012, Jones was arrested for an accident and drunk driving. Two women who were with him in the car suffered injuries as a result of the incident. The fighter was released after paying US$1 bail and underwent a refresher course to regain his driver's license.

The last time the fighter was involved with USADA was in 2017. After beating Daniel for the second time, 'Bones' was caught in a doping test for using the anabolic steroid turinabol.
