After weeks of speculation about the future of Brave's lightweight division, the organization's president, Mohammed Shahid, announced the end of Brave's reign. Ottman azaitar. The Moroccan, who won the 70 kg belt in November last year, is no longer the category champion and is out of Brave.

Through Brave Combat Federation's social media, Shahid announced the withdrawal of Azaitar's belt and nominated Luan “Miau” Santiago as a possible challenger for the vacant title.
"Ottman azaitar He had a great career in Brave, he had an excellent fight in Brave 14, which wasn't for the title. If we look at the lightweight division of the event, we haven't had a title defense in almost a year. This is not fair to the entire division, so we had to make a decision about it (…) We care about having the best fighters, not the most famous. If an athlete is not willing to test himself, then he has no place in our organization (…) To make everything official, Ottman azaitar is no longer the Brave lightweight champion. We will have a fight for the vacant belt at Brave 18, in November, in Bahrain,” said Shahid.
Azaitar's departure could open the way for a Brazilian. Luan “Miau” Santiago, Fighter of the Year in Brazil in 2016 and considered one of the biggest promises of 2018 by Fighters Only magazine, is one of the candidates to fight for the vacant belt.
“We have three great athletes who can fight for the title. Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady, who for me is the future of the division. A great athlete, with an absurd work ethic and a lot of talent. We have Luan “Miau”, who came very close to winning the interim belt. Everyone agreed that he had been winning the fight against “Mineiro” well before suffering an accident at the end of the fight. He's a great striker and has a lot of talent too. Finally, we have Eldar Eldarov, who is also capable and deserves to compete for the title.”
The duel for the lightweight title should be one of the main attractions of Brave's return to Bahrain, scheduled for November 16th during International Combat Week.
