The UFC announced this Wednesday (03) the creation of the organization's women's flyweight category (up to 61kg). The first champion of the division will be known at the end of 2017, and will emerge from the 26th edition of TUF (the reality show 'The Ultimate Fighter').

According to Ultimate, the selection is scheduled for May 23, in Las Vegas (USA), and all fighters who are part of the company's current roster of fighters, aged between 21 and 34, will be able to register. positive record and at least three fights as an MMA professional can register for the reality show. The rules also apply to athletes who do not have a contract with the organization.
Currently, the UFC has three women's divisions: strawweight (up to 52kg), which includes the Polish Joanna Jedrzejczyk as champion, bantamweight (up to 57kg), led by the Brazilian Amanda nunes, and recently inaugurated the featherweight division (up to 66kg), which had the Dutch Germain de Randamie crowned champion in February, after winning Holly holm by unanimous decision of the judges.
