Chris Cyborg may not face Germaine DeRandamie, Ultimate featherweight champion, at UFC 214, as she wanted. But that doesn't mean that the Brazilian won't fight a belt holder. In an interview with “The MMA Hour”, Cyborg admitted that he would like to fight Megan anderson, current owner of the Invicta featherweight title, which was once hers.

The Brazilian gave up the Invicta belt to focus on winning the UFC title, but De Randamie is going through personal problems and should not be able to fight at UFC 214. As a result, Cris could face the Australian Anderson, who was the promotion's interim champion. exclusively female, and was promoted to the owner of the linear title with the Brazilian's withdrawal. The two were guests on the program and “arranged” to fight.

“I hope she has already spoken to Shannon (Knapp, president of Invicta). I hope she doesn't want to make a name for herself over me. People like to say they want to fight me, but behind the scenes it's not like that. They deny fights. If you want it, you have to talk to the prosecutors. I think it would be great. She's a featherweight, she's taller than me, and I would like to fight someone bigger than me when I return to my division. I think this fight should have been for the belt in the first place”, declared Cyborg, who called “The MMA Hour” during Anderson’s interview.

A australiana, então, garantiu que está falando sério e pretende deixar o Invicta para lutar no UFC. As duas promoções são parceiras, com o Ultimate sendo dono do IFC, e transmitindo os shows do evento em sua plataforma online, o UFC Fight Pass.

“I have always expressed that I would like to take a step forward, to the UFC. It hasn't been talked about yet, but I would like the UFC to come to me and say: “Let's start negotiations”. I feel like it's a fight that should have happened. Now is the time. If Germaine is not fit to fight, we will crown the people's champion. I don't need more time. The 29th is good for me”, commented Anderson to “The MMA Hour”.
