The long-awaited duel between Wanderlei Silva e Chael Sonnen It can finally come out of the imagination of MMA fans and become real. And the one who guarantees this is Scott Coker, president of Bellator, the organization in which the two are currently contracted.

“Since Bellator hired Chael Sonnen, believe me, we have been receiving messages and calls from Wanderlei saying that he wants this fight. So, I think you will see this fight at some point in 2017 for Bellator”, revealed Coker to the North American website “FloCombat”.
The agent clarified that the confrontation can only take place from May 2017, due to a punishment imposed by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) on the Brazilian. Wand was banned from the sport for evading a doping test in 2014, however, the body reversed itself and punished him with a three-year suspension.
“We have a contract with the Wanderlei Silva even before Rizin appeared to him. With the contract we have with him, he will not be available to fight for us until he is cleared by the Nevada Athletic Commission. I think that in May he will be free to compete in Bellator”, said the president.
The rivalry between Wanderlei Silva e Chael Sonnen began in 2014, when they were chosen to be coaches for TUF Brasil 3. At the time, the two fighters provoked and insulted each other a lot during the recordings, to the point that they actually came to blows in one of the program's episodes. They were going to face each other in the final of the program, in May of that year, but both had problems with doping, thus causing the fight to be cancelled.
