Wand's lawyers appealed and cited an old case involving Vitor belfort in defense. Recently, the North American website “Deadspin” revealed documents showing that the “Phenomenon” fought at UFC 152, in 2012, despite having failed an anti-doping test weeks before, with excess free testosterone.

“Silva’s declarations of armed fights were motivated by the now public evidence that the UFC allowed fighters who failed drug tests to compete, in addition to forcing fighters to compete when they felt injured. As was recently revealed on September 21st, in 2012 the UFC knew that Vitor belfort he had significantly high levels of testosterone and they allowed him to fight anyway”, says the Brazilian’s defense.

At 39 years old, Wanderlei finds himself in a kind of “limbo”, as he still has a contract with the UFC, but is not in a position to fight. This is because the Paraná native was banned for life by the Nevada Athletic Commission for refusing to take a surprise anti-doping test before the fight he would have against Chael Sonnen. Since then, Wand has been waging a real war with the UFC.
