About five years ago, former UFC fighter Justin Wren decided to abandon his career and go on a journey of self-discovery through Africa and during his time in Congo he ended up starting the social project “Fight for the Forgotten” (“Fight for the forgotten ”, in free translation). Now, the action of the athlete, who returned to the ring with victory at Bellator last week, receives the support of none other than the organization's featherweight champion Patrick Pitbull.

In his official profile at Twitter, Patrício sent a message to Wren and offered advertising space to publicize his colleague's social project. “Hi Justin Wren, I was just informed about “Fight for the Forgotten”, otherwise I would have spoken to you beforehand. There is space available in my shorts and also on my banner to announce the project. Your story is incredible and I want to help give these people a voice,” wrote Pitbull, on his official profile on Twitter.

Pitbull's gesture encouraged other athletes and celebrities, such as UFC fighter Elias Theodorou and “The Office” actor Rainn Wilson, to also help the cause and prompted a very effusive response from Wren. “Brother, that would be AMAZING! Lets do this. I am extremely grateful for your heart and willingness to help,” he said.

The “Fight for the Forgotten” project is associated with “Water4”, a philanthropic entity that aims to accelerate access to drinking water in the poorest regions of Africa. Right now, Justin Wren is releasing a book about his journey, “how an MMA athlete stopped fighting for himself and started fighting for others”. Additionally, through crowdfunding campaigns, Wren also plans to produce a documentary.
