McGregor promises to 'retire' Aldo and move up a category

Irishman, already a lightweight champion in Europe, said that if he beat Aldo he would have 'cleaned' the under-66 kg division

Conor McGregor hasn't even been through yet José Aldo in the unification of the featherweight belts, but he is already making plans for his future after UFC 194. In an interview, the Irishman promised to end his Brazilian rival's career and then move up to the lightweight category.

“I want José (Aldo) to appear, because I'm going to retire him and that way I will have fulfilled what I promised to do. I said I would clean up the featherweight division, there is no one else,” said Conor, during a lunch with the press in Los Angeles (USA). “I'm going to unify the featherweight belts, clean up the division and then I'll move up to lightweight and completely dominate that as well. Those are my plans at the moment,” he added.

Despite considering Aldo the “last frontier” to be crossed in the under-66 kg division, McGregor made an exception and was willing to remain in the category if his next duel was against Frankie Edgar. “If Frankie Edgar manage to have a phenomenal performance and win Chad Mendes On December 11th, maybe I'll say 'alright, let's answer the Edgar question' and finish him off quickly. But, in my head now I only think about 'unifying' and 'destroying'”, he assured.

Despite currently being the interim UFC featherweight champion, Conor McGregor He already had a history in the lightweight category, where he was champion in the European Cage Warriors event. On December 12th, in Las Vegas (USA), McGregor faces José Aldo in the title unification in the main fight of UFC 194.
