The hearing that judged the doping case Anderson Silva, held last Thursday (13), gave a lot to talk about. With an argument considered “inconsistent” by the Nevada commissioners, the Brazilian ended up receiving a one-year suspension, plus a fine of US$380 and the loss of the victory over Nick Diaz, in January.

In his defense, Anderson claimed that the anabolic steroids he had been caught with were present in a sexual stimulant he ingested after receiving it as a gift from a friend who lives in Thailand. The Brazilian, despite being embarrassed by the matter, was not spared at the hearing, receiving the maximum punishment.

The great rival of “Spider’s” career, Chael Sonnen, you have already experienced what it is like to have problems with the North American entity. The former fighter even received a heavy punishment from the same Nevada Athletic Commission for failing a series of anti-doping tests before the fight he would have against Wanderlei Silva in July last year.

Sonnen gave his opinion on Anderson's case to the North American broadcaster “ESPN”, and showed that he did not understand the strategy used by the Brazilian's defense. “His defense was very silly and ridiculous. I still don't know why he needed to bring all that up. Those tests are bulletproof. They found the substance in his body and that's it, end of story. Why they found it in his system is simply irrelevant,” he commented. “Guys who get into this position – and I speak this from experience – like to tell a great story and show why that was in their body. But it's a positive test. You took it and competed. You broke the rules.”

Thus, Anderson, 40 years old, will only be allowed to compete again in February 2016, and, to receive the license to fight, he must present a negative anti-doping test.
