Charles do Bronx evaluates options for the future and doesn't rule out 'super fight' at welterweight

Pouco mais de duas semanas após a derrota sofrida contra Arman Tsarukyan no histórico UFC 300, no dia 13 de abril, Charles do Bronx não quer perder tempo e já pensa no próximo desafio a ser encarado no octógono do Ultimate.

Em entrevista ao site norte-americano ‘MMA Fighting’, Charles do Bronx se disse livre de lesões e disposto a retornar à ação o mais rápido possível, desde que seja em uma luta que faça sentido com seu status na organização.

“I left Las Vegas asking for another fight soon. I want to fight as soon as possible. I had two or three stitches above my eye, but they have now come out. I don't have any injuries. I'm ready to fight as soon as the UFC calls me. Of course I have nothing to prove to anyone and everyone knows my history in the UFC, so it doesn't make sense to accept fights with the eighth or tenth in the division. I want whoever is in front of me. That’s why I need to wait, think and analyze the next step,” he declared.

Uma das opções contempladas por Charles após o UFC 300 seria uma revanche contra Justin Gaethje, que foi derrotado por Max Holloway na mesma noite. O norte-americano, no entanto, anunciou recentemente planos de tirar um tempo de descanso antes de retornar ao octógono. Do Bronx respeita a decisão do rival, mas não vê sentido em esperar por ele.

“Ele (Gaethje) não está errado. Você não tem que lutar para aparecer para ninguém. Você tem que lutar quando está bem. Não é minha ideia ficar um tempo fora, quero lutar antes disso, então esperar pelo Gaethje não bate com o que estou planejando. Tem muita coisa acontecendo. Conor McGregor, Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, Islam Makhachev, então não quero apressar as coisas”, afirmou.

Além de tantas opções no peso leve, Charles do Bronx não fecha as portas para uma possível subida de categoria pontual para os meio-médios (até 77,1 kg).

"Why not? Why not take a fight that will lead to money and history and legacy? We have to think and talk to the organization. Why not move up a category and have a super fight? A fight that makes sense and makes us money? Why not?”, he concluded.
