Right after finishing Ovince St Preux in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 73, last Saturday (8), Glover Teixeira launched a challenge to the current light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier. However, the belt holder minimized his words and stated that the Brazilian is not yet accredited to fight for the title.

With the victory over St. Preux, Teixeira recovered from a sequence of two consecutive defeats, against Jon Jones e Phil Davis. For Cormier, a single victory should not be enough to accredit a challenger, as he considers that there are other fighters ahead in line.
“He continues to challenge me and does so all the time. Listen, Glover Teixeira, great job. You fought well. You have more work to do. Don't want to jump the queue. If Rashad evans win Ryan bader [in October], he deserves to fight for the belt. Take it slow, Mr Teixeira”, commented the champion.
Even if Teixeira gets the chance to fight for the title, Cormier didn't seem worried considering what he saw last Saturday. “This guy you saw fighting is not going to beat me. He did a good job, but he's not going to beat me. I saw an improvement in his physical conditioning, but against me, what is he going to do? Are you going to fall for me all the time? Glover Teixeira needs more fights,” said Cormier.
Interestingly, both Cormier and his next title challenger, Alexander Gustafson, received a chance to fight for the belt after a loss. The two will face each other in the main fight of UFC 192, on October 3, the same night that Rashad evans will measure forces with Ryan bader.
