With seven UFC events confirmed for 2015, Brazil already knows where five fight nights will take place in the country throughout the year. The announcement was made during this Wednesday's (07) edition of “UFC Tonight”, the official newspaper of the North American TV organization. Among the four confirmed cards, however, only one has an official date and location: UFC Fight Night 63, which takes place on March 14, at Ginásio do Maracanãzinho. The holding of this event had already been leaked by the partner site of Ultimate in selling tickets and packages.
This will be the first time that Rio de Janeiro will host an edition of the UFC outside of the numbered series, which consists of events marketed in pay-per-view in the United States. “Fight Night” cards, like the one in Rio in March, are smaller events and are generally headlined by athletes who are part of the top-15 of their categories.
In addition to this event in Rio, the expectation is that the other card in the Marvelous City could be in pay-per-view, with a title fight as the main fight. The events in São Paulo do not have a scheduled date. Recently, Ultimate Marshall Zelaznik's director of international development revealed that the organization's intention is to promote a night of fights at Allianz Park, new Palmeiras stadium. Furthermore, the Ibirapuera and José Correia gyms (in Barueri, Greater São Paulo) are also likely venues, as they have hosted other editions of the biggest MMA event on the planet in the past.
