Old acquaintance of Brazilians and famous for his career full of knockouts, which include impressive feats such as taking down the giant Mark Hunt In just 18 seconds, Dutch veteran Melvin Manhoef experienced the other side of the coin this time. After starting off on the right foot in Bellator, with a first-round triumph over former champion Doug Marshall, Manhoef was brutally knocked out by newcomer Joe Schilling, who has a record with fewer wins than losses, last Saturday ( 15).
Right at the beginning of the second round of the fight on the main card of Bellator 131, Manhoef attacked his rival and ended up being surprised by a well-aimed right cross that took him to the canvas. The blow was so hard that the Dutchman had some spasms after falling to the ground and the fight was immediately stopped by the central referee.
With duels against Brazilians like Paulo Filho, Fábio Silva and Fábio Piamonte, Melvin Manhoef is especially remembered for his two victories over Cyborg Evangelist, the most recent of which was last April. Former champion of the Cage Rage event, Manhoef has a professional record of 29 wins, 12 losses, one draw and one loss.
