For years, the main names linked to MMA have worked intensely to try to overcome the negative image that the sport had in its first years of existence, mainly in the 90s. Wand and Sonnen fight on TUF Brasil 3

We opened our relationship with one of the most memorable moments in MMA in the first half of 2014. It was already known that tempers would be high among the TUF Brasil 3 coaches Wanderlei Silva e Chael Sonnen, but during the recording of the reality show the duo came to blows in the studios in São Paulo. The coaches were restrained by the participants and other members of the technical committee, but one of them, muay thai coach André Dida, took the opportunity to hit Sonnen in the back. During the time of the extinct PRIDE, the American Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett fell out with Wanderlei Silva and your team at backstage of the Japanese event. Another famous mess in the history of MMA happened in another now-defunct event, which was also acquired by the UFC: Strikeforce. After defending the middleweight belt, Jake Shields saw Jason Miller invade the cage to challenge him publicly. Miller's attitude did not go down well with Shields' teammates on the Cesar Gracie Fight Team, who, after the immediate reaction of Nick Diaz, they went after “Mayhem”, as it is known. From then on, a widespread fight broke out, broadcast live.

Chute Boxe x Hammer House, at PRIDE

Brazilian fans who have followed MMA since the days of PRIDE certainly remember the historic rivalry between the Brazilian academies Chute Boxe, from Curitiba (PR), and Brazilian Top Team, from Rio de Janeiro (RJ). However, the people from Paraná also had notable opponents in the North Americans from Team Hammer House, mainly due to the events of PRIDE 31 – in 2006. On that occasion, Mauritius Shogun He was scheduled to face veteran Mark Coleman and ended up defeated – after suffering a fall, leaning awkwardly and breaking his arm. Brazilian Paulo Cesar “Giant” Silva, in himself, is already one of the most sui generis who have already put on the gloves to fight MMA. In his second time in the tournament, he headlined the event against Todd Brown and won by unanimous decision. But the emotions lasted until the weigh-in, when the athletes literally put their noses together and got weird, including Patrick slapping his rival in the face.

The last item on our list is not necessarily a complete fight, but one of the most tense confrontations in the recent history of the UFC and a moment that marked an era in the sport for Brazil. During the preparation for the middleweight title fight at UFC 126, Vitor belfort said several times that he considered the then champion Anderson Silva "masked". As a provocation, Anderson appeared at the weigh-in wearing a mask and pressed his face against his rival during the face-off.
