The world of MMA was taken by surprise, this Wednesday (28), when Wanderlei Silva was summarily removed from the fight against Chael Sonnen for missing medical tests before UFC 175. As a result, Vitor belfort, who had been away from competition since the ban on hormone replacement treatment (TRT), was called up for the duel.
After the UFC confirmed the news, Chael Sonnen confirmed the duel against Belfort and revealed that the winner will have the opportunity to compete for the middleweight belt against Chris Weidman, current champion, and also the Brazilian Lyoto Machida who face each other on the same night at UFC 175.
“I will continue fighting on the same card on July 5th, but now I will do a fight that will determine the next challenger to the winner of Chris Weidman x Lyoto Machida, and my opponent will be Vitor belfort. Vitor and I are from the middleweight division, but this fight will take place at a combined weight,” said the North American fighter in his appearance on the UFC Tonight program.
The fight between Vitor belfort e Chael Sonnen is on the main card of UFC 175, an event that takes place on July 5th, in Las Vegas, in the United States. In the main attraction of the night, the Brazilian Lyoto Machida challenges the middleweight champion Chris Weidman.
