One day after announcing that junior gypsy would be out of TUF Brasil 3 Finale due to injury, the organization has already found a replacement for the Brazilian. It will be Fabio Maldonado, who will move up to the heavyweight category to face the North American of Croatian descent Stipe Miocic. The event will take place on May 31st, at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium, in São Paulo (SP).
“I am very happy for the opportunity. I've been training and fighting for this to happen for a long time”, said the athlete, who already knows in which weight range he will be able to perform. “I weigh 101,5 kg and I will fight in that range,” he predicted.
Maldonado predicts that Miocic's fighting style will benefit his striking skills. “His fighting style fits with mine, it will be a great duel. His boxing is sharp, but mine is even better. The public will go crazy with this fight. I’m going to stick it to his head, without even giving him space to breathe”, he promised.
A UFC athlete since 2010, Maldonado has four wins and three losses in the largest MMA organization in the world. In the past, he had already played as a heavyweight, although he has been in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg) since arriving in Ultimate.
