The most attentive MMA fan may have noticed that two names were recently removed from the official UFC rankings in the lightweight category. Former name to be selected to fight for the belt, TJ Grant no longer appears on the list, as he has been away from the octagon since May 2013. Now Nate diaz also left the ranking even though it has only been inactive since November of last year.

The justification given by the UFC, however, is curious. According to the organization, the ranking is only aimed at fighters who are active, which does not consider this to be the case with Diaz. “Nate diaz was removed due to his inactivity and his refusals to accept fights. There is no prediction of when or if he will return. Therefore, he was removed from the rankings,” a UFC representative told the website of the North American broadcaster “ESPN”.

Since it hit Gray Maynard, at the end of last year, Diaz has been involved in some controversies with the UFC. He even went to the Twitter for complain about your salary and even asked to be released from his current contract.

However, the UFC's explanation is strange, as there are other names that, even inactive, remain in their official rankings. This is the case, for example, of Dominick Cruz, who is ninth among the bantamweights despite being out of action since October 2011.
