On December 28th, Gleison Tibau will have another opportunity to be part of a historic moment within the UFC. The Brazilian was once again selected to fight on one of the most important cards of the year, in the event that will promote two title fights.

At UFC 168, Anderson Silva will try to regain the middleweight belt against Chris Weidman, while, in the female cock category, Ronda Rousey defends his title against Miesha Tate. The event has been generating high expectations from the fans, and Tibau, scheduled to face Michael Johnson, celebrated the fact of being able to perform on a highlight day for the UFC.

“I never turned down a fight and I was always ready to answer any call from the UFC. I always fight to win, and I think that's why I'm rewarded with big cards”, said the native of Rio Grande do Norte.

Right after his UFC debut, in 2006, Tibau participated in the event he saw Georges St Pierre steal the welterweight title against Matt hugs. “It was a very important edition for the UFC, and it ended up being for me too, as I was called in a hurry to face the Nick Diaz and I accepted. The victory didn’t come, but it was my gateway to the event and the international MMA scene”, he recalls.

He also fought in nine other events that featured a title fight, including UFCs 81 (Rodrigo Minotauro against Tim Sylvia, for the interim heavyweight title), 104 (Mauritius Shogun against Lyoto Machida, for the light heavyweight title), 148 (Chael Sonnen against Anderson Silva, for the middleweight title) and 156 (Frankie Edgar against José Aldo for the featherweight title).

For the event that will mark the end of 2013 for the UFC, Tibau is betting on the challenger's victory. “I believe that Anderson must be hungry to fight, desperate to regain the belt that was his for many years. He seems to be more focused and will win the Chris Weidman, who is a great fighter too”, he bet.
