On the eve of the biggest challenge of his career, the featherweight (up to 65,7kg) Giga Chikadze showed a lot of respect for his opponent next Saturday (28), the veteran Edson Barboza. The Georgia fighter praised the Brazilian and declared that he is a bigger name than some members of the top-5 in the category. The statement was made on the media day of the UFC Las Vegas 35.

“Edson is a big name. He's a bigger name than some of the top-five guys. I was challenging the top five names because I wanted to get to the title fight faster. I wanted to have a better ranked opponent, but Edson is a big name and once I get through this challenge, then I will be ready for anything”, declared Giga.
The Georgia fighter praised the Brazilian's striking power, but showed confidence by saying that he doesn't see himself being defeated.
“I believe Edson will come strong. I believe he will bring his game 100%, but like I said. He attacks in an impressive way, at a high level that is impressive. He's definitely a great striker, but I don't see the fight going anywhere that I can lose, I'm just being honest. Let’s see,” declared Chikadze.
In tenth place in the featherweight rankings (up to 65,7kg), Giga is riding on an incredible streak of eight straight victories. His last defeat was in June 2018, still on the reality show 'Contender Series'. The fighter has a record of 13 positive results and two negative results.
