“For him to get a rematch is not fair. Money talks, but let's be serious. […] Nothing he did that night (at UFC 229) guarantees a rematch,” said the lightweight.

After the victory over Kevin Lee at UFC Milwaukee, Iaquinta challenged Nurmagomedov to a lightweight title rematch. However, the fighter is after Tony Ferguson, Conor and Dustin poirier in the category ranking. With that in mind, he asked for a fight with one of the Top 3 in the category to qualify for a new title fight with the Russian.

PUBLICITY:

“I want to fight the Tony Ferguson. I want to fight against Conor McGregor, Dustin poirier. A win over any of these guys will get me a rematch with Khabib, which is something I want to do this year and have a full training camp, really be prepared. I know it’s a fight that would be very different the second time around,” said Al.

Despite his desire to face Khabib, the fighter claims that Ferguson should be the next challenger for the division title. According to the fighter, 'El Cucuy' won the right to face the Russian after recording 11 consecutive victories in the organization.

PUBLICITY:

“He has put together a winning streak in this lightweight division that is remarkable. […] As much as I can't stand the guy, I can respect that he's a tough competitor, and he definitely won this,” concluded Iaquinta.
