Khabib rejects new duel with McGregor: 'Rematch for what?'

Nurmagomedov believes that the Irishman does not deserve a new fight, as he talked a lot and inside the octagon 'did nothing'

The rematch between Khabib Nurmagomedov e Conor McGregor It has been widely speculated to take place in 2019. Ultimate president Dana White even stated that he plans a reunion between the arch-rivals. On the other hand, the lightweight champion doesn't seem to have the same idea. In an interview with the North American website TMZ Sports, 'Eagle' declared that he does not intend to face the Irishman again.

"He does not deserve. Rematch for what? (…) Before the last fight, he also talked a lot, but inside the cage, he didn’t do anything,” said Nurmagomedov.

The arch-rivals faced each other for the lightweight belt at UFC 229 in October 2018. McGregor managed to maintain the confrontation with Khabib until 3:03 of the fourth round. The Russian applied a rear naked choke on Conor which made him give up.

With the end of the main fight, Khabib jumped the Octagon and attacked Conor's jiu-jitsu coach, Dillon Danis. Meanwhile, Nurmagomedov's colleagues attacked McGregor, who returned the attack.

Before thinking about returning to the UFC octagon, the fighters will be judged by the Nevada Athletic Commission. The committee will evaluate the participation of Nurmagomedov and McGregor in the widespread fight and thus, possible suspensions and fines will be defined. The new trial date has not yet been announced by the regulatory body.
