However, the fighter got into an argument with a personality outside the fighting world: with the youtuber and influencer, Felipe Neto.
The confusion began when Felipe Neto shared a video from the channel 'Quebrando o Tabu', on YouTube, with voters who regretted electing Jair Bolsonaro as president. However, Anderson tried to alleviate the attacks suffered by the head of the Brazilian State. Spider preferred not to openly defend Bolsonaro, but was against impeachment.
“Felipe, what we should do at this time of health crisis is stop playing against. What do you think will happen if he leaves now? We are in the middle of the hurricane, everything is going from bad to worse, and it will get much worse. The economic crisis that Brazil will face is terrible, this is not the time to play against my friend and when I say against, it is not against the president, but against the country. I disagree with a lot of what he says and preaches as true, but playing against him at this time is not a demonstration of patriotism, nor of someone who is really concerned about the country!”, wrote the athlete.
On the other hand, Felipe Neto responded to Anderson's message. The influencer argued alleging Bolsonaro's disregard for the COVID-19 pandemic and even the risk of losing democratic rights.
“Anderson, this government has been without a health minister for almost 20 days in the middle of the biggest pandemic of the century, after dismissing the two medical ministers, simply for acting like doctors and recommending isolation and not using chloroquine. This government, thanks to the worst public health management on the entire planet, has put Brazil on the path to becoming the country with the most deaths in the world from Covid, something that experts are already predicting”, he replied.
“This government threatens democracy and has its leader going on marches in favor of closing Congress and the STF. This government hid the number of deaths from Covid and took the statistics offline. This government took 83 million reais from Bolsa-Família do Nordeste to use in advertising campaigns. This government orders people to take to the streets and open businesses. This government kills. Playing against this government is playing in favor of life, it is the supreme demonstration of patriotism and concern for the country and the people. We need to unite against this genocide and fight for science and democracy”, he concluded.
