The former bantamweight champion, cody garbrandt, used his social networks to provoke his rival, TJ Dillashaw, after confirmation of the two-year punishment given to the TJ by USADA last Tuesday (9). The two faced each other twice for the bantamweight title, Dillashaw defeating Garbrandt on both occasions.

Dillashaw, 33, tested positive for the use of a synthetic hormone (EPO), which increases the number of red blood cells in the blood, favoring the transport of oxygen in the body. The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), after the incident, imposed a two-year punishment on the athlete. Before USADA's official announcement, TJ had already given up his bantamweight belt (up to 61,2kg).

With the suspension, TJ will only be able to return to the Octagon in January 2021. The fact caused Cody to express himself with euphoria on Twitter.

“Call me when the suspension is over, coward,” Cody posted.

The rivalry between the fighters began when TJ decided to change gyms. At the time, Dillashaw was training at TAM Gym, which is the same as Cody. At the time, Garbrandt even said that TJ had sold out. Since then, the athletes started to provoke each other, until Ultimate caused a clash between the two.

The UFC's strategy was to add fighters as coaches in one of the editions of the reality show, TUF (The Ultimate Fighter), held in 2017. At the end of the season, the North Americans faced each other in the fight for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2, XNUMXkg), which belonged to Cody.

Dillashaw entered the fight as an 'underdog', but ended up surprising the world, knocking out Garbrandt resoundingly in the second round.

The rematch between the two took place eight months later, at UFC 227, and, again, Cody was knocked out by TJ; this time, in the first round, putting a temporary end to the rivalry.

After the first provocation via Twitter, Cody made another series of publications mocking TJ's pity and stating that his arch-rival is nothing more than a cheater.
