Anderson wants to compete in the first half of 2019. He asked to face Nick Diaz No. UFC 237, scheduled for May 11th, in Curitiba – the city where it was created.
Anderson and Diaz faced each other at UFC 183, in 2015, and the Brazilian won the fight by decision of the judges. However, the official result was changed to 'No Contest' (no winner) after both athletes were caught taking an anti-doping test.
“Our last fight was a 'No Contest'. I spoke to his manager (Nick) months ago about this fight and he said, 'Okay, let's talk to Dana.' Let’s see, I’ll wait for Dana”, said Anderson.
Before ending his MMA career, 'Spider' wants to fight in the city where he grew up and became a fighter. The former middleweight champion tried to participate in UFC 198, held in 2016, but an injury ruled him out of the event.
“When I tried to fight in Curitiba, I had problems and needed surgery and left the card. Now I have the chance to fight in my city, where it all started. I spoke with Ed (Soares, manager) and my team. I think it makes sense for me and Nick Diaz we fight in Curitiba”, concluded Silva.
