Demian Maia says Michael Chiesa would be the 'ideal opponent' for his next fight

Demian Maia submitted Lyman Good with a rear naked choke at 2:38 of the first round in a clash on the main card of UFC Fortaleza, Saturday (02). In this way, the Brazilian ended a sequence of three defeats and began the countdown to the end of his contract and possible retirement from MMA. In a press conference after the event, the veteran pointed out who would be the ideal opponent for his first fight of the remaining two in his agreement with Ultimate.

Demian said that since the victory of Michael chiesa about Carlos Condit at UFC 232, in December last year, his fans have been suggesting a confrontation between him and 'Maverick'. Maia stated that he is not an athlete who challenges others, but he liked the idea of ​​facing the North American.

Demian has had 29 fights in almost 12 years in Ultimate, with 20 triumphs and nine setbacks. After UFC Fortaleza, Maia has two more fights on his contract that may not be renewed. The fighter wants to focus on other projects outside the octagon.
