Daniel Cormier knocked out Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 and made the organization's history by becoming the second athlete to win two belts simultaneously (light heavyweight and heavyweight). In an interview after the victory ‘DC’ challenged Brock Lesnar for a confrontation. When instigated, the WWE star climbed into the octagon and pushed his rival, which caused a commotion at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. On that occasion, the champion did not retaliate the attack, but promised that if the attacker entered the cage again, his attitude would be different.

“I heard that Brock Lesnar will be at The Garden for UFC 230. If he tries to enter that Octagon again, I will slap him in the face. I owe you this for the last time,” Cormier said in an interview with North American radio station Busted Open.
It was expected that after the turmoil at UFC 229, Cormier would face Lesnar. However, Daniel agreed to fight Derrick Lewis for the heavyweight belt in the main fight of UFC 230.
To have a chance to face Brock in 2019 before his retirement, Cormier has to beat ‘Black Beast’ and retain the division title. Another option for his farewell to the octagon is a rematch against Jon Jones in light heavyweights.
