Ortega says he will fight for the featherweight title at UFC 231: 'With or without Holloway'

Max Holloway e Brian ortega they were going to fight for the featherweight belt in June at UFC 226. However, the champion was removed from the fight after having concussion symptoms. With the fight rescheduled for UFC 231 in Toronto (CAN), 'T-City' assured that he was not worried about his rival leaving again. In an interview during his participation in UFC 229, the fighter revealed that he had signed an agreement with the organization in which he guarantees that he will fight for the division's belt, on December 8th, with or without 'Blessed'.

“We have an agreement that says that on December 8th, with or without Max, this fight will take place for the featherweight belt. They said they have a replacement, but did not reveal the name. I don't know who it is, and I don't care. If the fight is valid for the real belt, you can be sure that I will be there”, confessed Ortega.

With the fight suspended for six months, Brian said he was more prepared to face his opponent and win the belt.

“The mentality is the same. Now it's time to fight for the title on December 8th in Toronto, in the main fight of UFC 231. The preparation is the same, I tried to repeat everything I had already done and, if I didn't have time before to correct some things that were wrong in my training , now I had that time. This means that I will be more dangerous than before”, said the fighter.

When analyzing the confrontation with Holloway, Ortega assured that fans will be surprised, as they will see another level of fight.

“He’s very strong on top, and I’m very strong on the bottom. It's a war. I think we are both good on our feet, and if we go to the ground, the fans will have another level of show, which is not normally shown at MMA events, where everyone expects to see exchanges of blows and, when the fight goes to the ground , she gets boring. I don't see how our fight can be boring. Let’s see what happens in the future”, concluded Brian.
