At the beginning of the week of UFC Sao Paulo, the English fighter suffered an injury to his posterior muscle and was removed from the fight. As a result, Manuwa was replaced by Erik Anders who ended up being knocked out by Thiago in the third round.
Manuwa's withdrawal from the fight left Marreta frustrated at not being able to face a light heavyweight fighter in his first duel in the division. Despite this, in a press conference after the event, Thiago challenged Jimi to a confrontation.
Thiago Marreta won his second straight victory by knocking out Anders in the UFC Sao Paulo. The Brazilian has 35 fights in his record with 19 wins and six defeats.
Jimi Manuwa is coming off two defeats to Volkan oezdemir e Jan Blachowicz. In 21 career clashes, the Englishman has 17 triumphs and four setbacks.
