Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida underwent surgery this Monday to remove residue and excess cartilage that caused pain in the fighter's left elbow. The procedure was carried out in Belém.
The Bahian living in Pará reacted well to the operation and sent a message on Twitter reassuring his followers. “I just woke up from surgery, everything went well. I’m doing very well”, said Lyoto on the microblog. Machida then took the opportunity to respond to a provocation from the always controversial Chael Sonnen:
"Chael Sonnen, I just got out of surgery, but I can give you your gift inside the octagon with just one arm, you just have to accept the fight.”
The American, known for provoking Brazilian fighters, did another one of his own. During program recording ufc tonight, which airs on January 3rd on the American channel FUEL TV, took advantage of the holiday season and offered gifts to some Brazilian athletes. Machida said he would send a “large bottle of mouthwash” as Lyoto is known for being a fan of urine therapy.
