Ultimate was sold in August 2016 to Endeavor for US$4,025 billion. There were many uncertainties with the agreement, but the president of the organization assured that the change would be for the improvement of the franchise so that the sport can move forward. According to the UFC boss, the price of his fight promotion is almost double the price it was sold for about two years ago. Today the brand is valued at US$7 billion.
“When you think about it, we haven't even scratched the surface of how big this thing could be. We just got a five-year, $1,5 billion TV deal with ESPN. Now the company is worth $7 billion,” said Dana.
According to White and corroborating investor reports, 2017 was the most financially profitable year in the company's history. Add in the UFC's new statewide television contract with ESPN worth $1,5 billion over five years.
The ESPN deal that begins January 1st will open new doors for the UFC. Dana expects more exposure for the UFC brand and its athletes. White said he will continue to work hard with the daily grind, and in his mind the results of that will be an even higher quality product.
“Obviously, this ESPN deal will be massive for us, exposing us to millions of people who are here in the US who haven't been exposed to the UFC. We will continue to enter markets we have not been to, we will continue to find the best talent in the world. I love finding promising talent. I love finding the next guy or girl. Continue to build the sport. That's it. That's my focus. It's not rocket science, it's not crazy at all. Just keep doing what we do and getting bigger and bigger,” concluded White.
