Fabricio Werdum returns to UFC and faces Roy Nelson

After campaigning on Twitter, finally Fabricio Werdum had his wish granted. The gaucho was rehired by the UFC, according to news released first hand by website MMAWeekly.

Werdum took advantage of the success of UFC Rio and started asking to face the American Brendan Schaub, who had been defeated by Rodrigo Minotauro in Rio de Janeiro. But his opponent in his return to the biggest event in the world will be another American: Roy Nelson. “Vai Cavalo” and “Big Country” will face each other in UFC 143, on Super Bowl weekend, at the same event as Carlos Condit e Nick Diaz will fight for the interim welterweight belt.

The Brazilian is coming off a defeat to alistair overeem in the quarter-finals of the Strikeforce heavyweight tournament.
