Gegard Mousasi asks Bellator for a superfight against Rory MacDonald

Just nine days into Bellator 200, Gegard Mousasi won the middleweight belt over the Brazilian Raphael Carvalho. The fighter challenged the welterweight champion Rory McDonald for a super fight. The two fighters gave interviews to the program “The MMA Hour” and justified the request to the organization.

“Obviously, me and Gegard want that and I think the fans want that. I think it would be the biggest fight that Bellator could put on right now. In my opinion, if they pass on this opportunity, it would be a mistake, because how often do you get that kind of timing and one fight can change the direction of any of our careers, so I think the opportunity is now and we should take it.” , explained Rory.

Mousasi believes MacDonald is one of the top fighters on the Bellator roster. The Iranian athlete wants to make the fight interesting for the public, so he can take on the 'villain role'.

“One of us has to be the bad guy. And I can play this role, no problem. I'll be the bad guy. You need rivalries, so I'll be the bad guy in this one and Rory can be the good guy. He’s Canadian anyway, they’re always so friendly, so I’m the bad guy,” Mousasi said.

Gegard Mousasi middleweight champion has 50 fights in his career, with 42 wins, six losses and two draws. He debuted in Bellator in 2017 with wins over Alexander Shlemenko.
