Frank mir was knocked out by Fedor Emelianenko 48 seconds into the fight at Bellator 198, held last Saturday (28). The setback eliminated the former UFC champion from the organization's heavyweight tournament. Just a few days after the duel, the fighter is sure of the reason for such a quick defeat.

In his podcast, 'Phone Booth Fighting', Mir stated that he lacked coolness in dealing with combat situations. According to him, after Fedor fell, he surrendered to his emotions and left strategy aside.
Mir states: “I lost my cool, I let my ego dictate the way I fought. I'm good at putting emotions aside and not getting affected by it. But as soon as I was thrown into the air my ego was badly hurt. […] When we got up, I went into street fight mode. I threw random shots instead of going back to my base and unleashing my game. That was probably where the lack of fight spoke loudest. Once I got into a fight, I became emotional and stopped being strategic,” said the fighter.
In 2016, after a fight he lost to Mark Hunt Still in the UFC, Mir was caught in an anti-doping test and served a two-year suspension. The fight against Fedor was the first after being released to return to the MMA cage.
