UFC 138: Renan Barão seeks knockout or submission against Pickett

The Brazilian Renan Barao traveled on Monday night (31) to England, where he will perform at UFC 138, an event that takes place next Saturday, in Birmingham. The athlete from Rio Grande do Norte will face the Englishman Brad pickett, and hopes to leave the octagon in style.

Renan is not only thinking about winning in his opponent's country, but also achieving a significant triumph, by knockout or submission, which would bring him closer to fighting for the UFC bantamweight belt.

“My preparation has been the best possible. I trained a lot, doing the physical preparation part, Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling and I'm ready for the fight. Pickett is a tough guy, who likes to exchange blows and has a good fight on the ground, but my strategy is always the same: fight forward, try to catch him or knock him out and be aggressive as much as possible, from start to finish”, says Barão.

This is Barão's second participation in the UFC. The first was in May, in the victory against American Cole Escovedo, in the United States, which shows that the Brazilian is not intimidated by the opposing country. “As long as I'm prepared and safe, I don't see a problem fighting in the opposing country”, guarantees Barão, who has a record of 27 consecutive victories in MMA, six by knockout and 12 by submission. With this background, Renan is already thinking about challenging Dominick Cruz for the UFC title.

“It will depend on the UFC (contending for the belt), but I believe that if I perform well, I will be close. Of course, being the champion of a category has always been my focus, but I’m in no rush to get there”, he concluded.
