The UFC 141 card, the last edition of the event in 2011, added two Brazilian names to the fight program. The show, which is scheduled to take place on December 30th in Las Vegas, will feature featherweights Diego Nunes and Junior Assunção, who will face Armenian Manny Gamburyan and Englishman Ross Pearson, respectively.
Diego tries to follow Aldo and defeat Gamburyan
Manny Gamburyan moved down to the featherweight division and went on a good streak of three consecutive victories. But after being dominated and knocked out by the Brazilian Jose aldo, the Armenian lost the chance to win the WEC title (before the unification with the UFC) and debuted in Ultimate with a setback: to Tyson Griffin at UFC Live 4. In turn, Diego, who is coming off a loss to Kenny Florian, will try to follow in the footsteps of his teammate at Nova União and surpass Manny.
Junior Assunção wants to maintain his good form against Pearson
Brazilian Junior Assunção is experiencing one of the best moments of his career. The fighter from Recife is on a streak of eight wins and returned to the UFC in style, when he dominated Eddie Yagin in the UFC 135, held in September, and won by unanimous decision of the judges. In turn, Pearson, who is the winner of the ninth edition of The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC's reality show, will make his debut in the featherweight division, after failing to achieve a sequence of victories among the lightweights.
