Through a post on Instagram, Werdum thanked the fans for their support and promised that he will 'get up from this high'.

I'm sad, but I keep my head up with the certainty that life is made up of mistakes and successes and that the most important thing about this journey is how we get up from a fall. I am lucky to have happiness and determination in my heart and to be surrounded by people who respect me and who give me the energy I need to continue my path of success. Thank you for your support and know that each one of you is very important to me,” wrote Werdum.

Fabricio Werdum, 40 years old, occupied third place in the UFC heavyweight rankings and was about to challenge for the category belt if he won Alexander Volkov.
