Since giving up the middleweight belt he won at UFC 217 in November last year, Georges St Pierre has remained out of the media. The Canadian is dealing with a stomach illness, which was reportedly caused by the former welterweight champion gaining weight to compete in the upper division. However, GSP's jiu-jitsu coach, John Danaher, admitted that his pupil could retire for good.

In an interview with UFC commentator Joe Rogan's podcast, Danaher updated St. Pierre's health status, but admitted that he doesn't know if his student will return to the octagon.

“The truth is that no one knows if he will fight again because it all depends on his medical problems. Georges has a problem with his stomach. I can't say I'm an expert in medicine, but it's one of the most frustrating things Georges has had to deal with in his life. The truth is that, at this moment, no one knows… Whenever there is any doubt, my instinct is to think like this: “Do you really want to come back, Georges? You did a lot and the way you did it would be a great end to your career,” declared Danaher, admitting that, if his pupil returns, he should be against Tyron woodley, current welterweight champion.

“This fight interests us, absolutely. Tyron is a great champion. I know he gets a lot of criticism, but this kid is talented. I think he's good, very good. People say that Georges doesn't want to face him, but I see that these are things to motivate him. There are political reasons behind this,” he pointed out.
