Knockout over Sterling puts Marlon Moraes in the bantamweight top-5

Brazilian moved up two positions and is now the fifth best fighter in the category, not counting champion TJ Dillashaw

After a disappointing start in the UFC, the bantamweight Marlon moraes turned the tide with two important victories in less than a month. On his debut in the promotion, the Brazilian lost to his compatriot Raphael Assunção, but achieved two great triumphs in the last 30 days, beating John Dodson by decision and knocking out aljamain sterling at UFC Fresno last Saturday (9).

And it was the devastating victory over “Funk Master” that put Marlon in the top-5 of the bantamweight division. In the most recent edition of the UFC rankings, “Magic” appears in fifth place, having gained two positions. Now, Marlon is only after cody garbrandt, Dominick Cruz, Jimmie rivera e Raphael Assunção, in addition to the champion TJ Dillashaw, which is not ranked, but is “above” the first place.

Another big winner from UFC Fresno also advanced in the rankings. After finishing Cub swanson in the main fight of the event, Brian ortega also entered the top-5, but in fourth place, “stealing” the place from his last victim, who fell to fifth place.

Interestingly, when vacating the middleweight title, Georges St Pierre did not occupy the first place in the middleweight division. The Canadian fell straight from the title to third place, being immediately overtaken by Yoel romero (first) and Luke Rockhold (second). However, GSP remains ahead of Ronaldo Jacare, fourth place.
