Glover says he will maintain 'Mike Tyson style' to seek title

After a decisive defeat to Alexander Gustafson in the first semester, Glover Teixeira says it will maintain the “style Mike Tyson” for the duel against Misha Cirkunov, at UFC Winnipeg this Saturday (16). However, the Brazilian admits that he has been working on using his standing technique more and not looking for the knockout all the time. In an interview with the North American program “MMA Junkie Radio”, the light heavyweight spoke about the technical changes he made in preparation for the duel with Cirkunov.

“Before I went straight for the knockout, but now I've been working on my footwork and my timing. It's very important to work on this for fights, especially for a veteran. Athletes start to analyze you and capitalize on your game, so we always have to change. I'll still be Glover, I'll still go after others as if I were the Mike Tyson, but I will have more patience”, he analyzed.

Glover also declared that he remains in pursuit of the belt and has not given up on his dream. For him, a victory on Saturday (16) puts him close to a duel for the title.

“I can't change the past, so I will change the future. I'll try to make it happen. I still have a lot of fight inside me. I'm still passionate about the sport. I love training and I'm in great shape right now. I continue to learn and have fun. I want to become champion. I'm almost there. I'm number three in the UFC rankings. If I beat Cirkunov, I’ll be back on the title radar,” he commented.
