Light heavyweight champion again thanks to doping Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier admits that the defeat to his arch-rival still shakes him. Despite the result being turned into a no contest, DC counts the second duel with “Bones” as a defeat and declared that he still has nightmares about the duel, which took place at UFC 214, in July this year.

In an interview with the North American program The MMA Hour, Cormier declared that he needs to win Volkan oezdemir to take away the “stink” of the loss to Jones. The two will face each other at UFC 220, which takes place in January.

PUBLICITY:

“It’s like a skunk peed on me. And I stink no matter where I am. So I need to take a shower and get rid of this stench. Until I do that, by beating Oezdemir, I will feel bad. That's how I am, man. I'm a competitor. I know I lost that fight to Jon Jones. I can't erase this memory. I still have nightmares about that fight,” DC revealed.

The American also admitted that he feels uncomfortable being the champion, as he believes he was defeated by Jones. But he declared that if he beats Oezdemir, he will feel “back on top”.

PUBLICITY:

“My thinking hasn’t changed. I was there on July 29th. And everything was going so well until it wasn't and I was defeated. That discomfort is still with me. So I need to go back to the octagon, face Volkan oezdemir and beat this guy to feel at the top again”, he declared.
