After defeat to Johnson, Wilson Reis faces Cejudo at UFC 216

Brazilian couldn't resist champion Demetrious Johnson in April and now seeks recovery against Olympic gold medalist

After losing his chance to win the flyweight belt after being submitted by Demetrious Johnson at UFC Kansas, the Brazilian Wilson reis will return to the octagon at UFC 216, which will be held in Edmonton, Canada, on September 9th. The flyweight will face Henry Cejudo, Olympic gold medalist in wrestling in Beijing-2008.

Fourth placed in the under-57 kg category rankings, Reis was on a three-fight win streak, over Dustin Ortiz, Hector Sandoval and Yuta Sasaki, before facing Johnson. After being dominated for almost 15 minutes, the Brazilian ended up being submitted by the champion, who reached 10 consecutive defenses of his belt, equaling the feat of Anderson Silva.

The American of Mexican origin started in MMA in 2013 and won his first 10 fights, including four in the UFC. “The Messenger” was another victim of champion Johnson, who knocked him out in the first round at UFC 197. Afterwards, he was a coach on the 24th season of The Ultimate Fighter and, in the TUF Finale, he ended up suffering another setback, for his rival coach Joseph Benavidez.
