But beyond Ultimate, the Phenomenon is already targeting duels against arch-rivals like Wanderlei Silva e Chael Sonnen. The person who reveals Vitor's interest in these fights is his manager, Gustavo Lacerda.
“What I think is possible to imagine is: what does the MMA fan want? Do you want to see Vitor x Wanderlei (Silva), do you want to see Vitor x (Chael) Sonnen. You want to see fights like that. And it is this type of fight that interests us. Vitor doesn't need to prove anything else in relation to ranking or title. The idea is that they are fights that are interesting. Public interest and that arouse interest in the fighter. Personally, I'm dying to see Vitor x Wanderlei. It's a fight I pay to see. There are fights that people want to see, and it is these fights that become interesting”, commented Lacerda to the MMA Ganhador podcast.
The agent also admitted that Vitor could either fight at Rizin, a Japanese event considered the “new Pride”, or represent Bellator, the UFC's biggest rival, where Sonnen and Wanderlei are currently located.
“Where it will be and how it will be I can’t say anything now. But they must happen, they must (…) During the contract with the UFC, all events probe Vitor. Even to know when the contract will end and everything. Vitor is a name that boosts the event, so all events are probed. Now that we think about it,” he commented.
