Retired after losing to Daniel Cormier at UFC 210, Anthony Johnson does not intend to cancel the result of the fight due to the controversial weigh-in of the champion last Friday (7). However, Rumble wants an admission of guilt from the New York Commission and 20% of the DC exchange, which did not make the weight on the first attempt and “lost” 550g less than three minutes later, on a new attempt. Cameras caught Cormier leaning on a towel, which could take some of his weight off the scale.

Johnson's manager, Ali Abdel-Aziz, confirmed, in an interview with ESPN's North American website, that his fighter will make a formal complaint to the New York Commission, which legalized MMA last year and has been dealing with some problems, including the confusion in the struggles between Weidman and Mousasi (which was stopped after the referee used replays) and the debutant Pearl González vs. Cynthia Calvillo, which was canceled due to González's silicone implants, before being confirmed hours later.

“Anthony’s rights were violated. We will pursue the appropriate legal channels to resolve this. Everyone saw what happened. How does someone lose 1,2 pounds (just over 0,5 kg) in two minutes? We don't want to take anything away from him, he deserved that victory. But Cormier has to give up 20% of the scholarship to Anthony. He had two extra hours to cut weight – and I think he could probably do it,” commented Abdel-Aziz.

The idea of Johnson's team is also to obtain an admission of guilt from the Commission and put pressure on it so that mistakes made during the official weighing are not repeated in New York.

PUBLICITY:

“I think we need three things. The first is the recognition that the weighing was done incorrectly. The second, we need DC to be fined 20%, he needed to be fined for being overweight. The third is that New York improves its weigh-in procedures so that this doesn't happen again”, commented Craig Zimmerman, lawyer for “Rumble”, to the North American website “MMA Fighting”.
