Jon Jones' probation period comes to an end

Former UFC champion had been serving a sentence since 2015, due to a traffic accident, in which he fled without providing assistance

Suspended after being caught in an anti-doping test, Jon Jones He can't return to the octagon yet, but he already has one minor problem in his life. His 18-month probation sentence, due to his escape from the scene of a car accident in 2015, ended this Tuesday, and the fighter has no further legal issues.

Jones had been on probation since pleading guilty to a traffic accident in April 2015. At the time, the fighter ran through a red light, hit a car driven by a pregnant woman and fled the scene on foot. The incident also caused the UFC to strip Jon of the light heavyweight belt as punishment. In September of that year, he pleaded guilty to fleeing the scene of the crime, and received a sentence of 18 months probation, in addition to 72 appearances with children's groups to give talks and educate children about avoiding bad decisions in their lives.

Now, 'Bones' is waiting for the suspension received for being caught in an anti-doping test to come to an end. In July 2016, Jones was withdrawn at the last minute from UFC 200, when he was scheduled to face Daniel Cormier for the definitive belt in the category. At the time, the athlete was caught taking clomiphene and Letrozole, both estrogen blockers. As the punishment was applied retroactively, referring to the date on which his exam results were announced, he will be released to fight in July this year.
