Hours after Anderson Silva challenge names like Nick Diaz e Michael Bisping, it was the Brazilian's turn to be on the other 'side of the coin'. Current number 1 in the middleweight rankings, Yoel romero declared this Monday (13) that he wants to face Spider for the interim belt in the category. According to the Cuban, who was accredited to fight the champion Michael Bisping, but was passed back after the return of Georges St Pierre, the fight with Anderson would serve to decide the next legitimate challenger in the division.

"As Michael Bisping will face Georges St-Pierre, and I want to stay active, I would like to face Anderson Silva for the interim belt in the category. He's the only one I would face, firstly because he's one of the biggest MMA stars of all time, and secondly because, looking at the rankings, we're the only ones in the top six not to have fights scheduled or to be healthy. I'm willing to fight another athlete. If it's with a big name and it's good for both, how about Anderson Silva, why not? I would face and beat anyone, but the biggest name available is Anderson Silva, who is a former world champion. We both have plans to face Georges St-Pierre, and that's exactly why I intend to face Anderson Silva. That’s the plan”, declared Yoel, in an interview with the “MMA Hour” program (USA).

In January this year, Romero was confirmed by Ultimate itself as Michael Bisping's next opponent. However, St.Pierre's return to MMA made the organization change its mind, choosing the former dominant welterweight champion to fight for the middleweight belt, automatically leaving the Cuban behind.

At 39 years old, The 'Soldier of God' still doesn't know what it's like to lose in Ultimate. Having been with him since 2013, he won the eight fights he fought, six of which were by knockout, the most recent over Chris Weidman at UFC 205, in November last year.
